Justify ex Not Now Carolyn filly foal

First Foals for Justify and Saxon Warrior Sell in Japan

The 2020 JRHA Select Foal Sale in Japan on Tuesday saw two foals offered at public auction by Triple Crown winner Justify and dual Group I winner Saxon Warrior, who are both headed for Australia this spring.

Lot 397 (pictured) was the only foal in the sale by Justify and was sold to Takeshita Koichi for 80million yen (AUS$1,073,000).

Clearly stamped by her sire, the filly is the first foal of the winning Tapit mare Not Now Carolyn a daughter of the Champion female sprinter in USA Maryfield.

The best son of Scat Daddy, Justify covered a sensational brook of mares in Australia last year and five of those mares are entered for the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.

Lot 323 was the only foal in the sale by Saxon Warrior and was purchased by Miyazaki Toshiya for 41million yen (AUS$550,000).

The filly is from Well Away, a half-sister by Monsun to Group I German Oaks winner Well Timed.

A Group I winner at two and three by Japan’s much missed super sire Deep Impact, Saxon Warrior was also well received in Australia last spring and there are five mares covered by him catalogued for the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.

Justify and Saxon Warrior are both coming back to Australia in the spring, the former at a fee of $66,000 and the latter standing for $17,600.
