Seek And Destroy The Soaring Softly

G3 Winner for Verrazano

Promising filly Seek and Destroy (3f Verrazano x Search and Seizure, by War Chant) was a stakes-winner last season at two and upped the ante when switched to turf to win the $100,000 Grade III Soaring Softly Stakes at Belmont on Saturday.

The Chad Brown trained filly surged to the line from off the pace to win the seven furlong sprint by a length taking her overall record to three wins from five starts with prizemoney topping $156,000.

“She broke a step slow and I just wanted to gather up and keep her underneath me,” said winning rider Kendrick Carmouche. “There were a couple of horses who I knew would come back to me. The cutback helped. She was fresh today coming off a layoff, so I knew I could do anything with her. She ran a wonderful race.”

A $425,000 Keeneland September Yearling, Seek and Destroy is a three-quarter sister to Grade III winner Tammy the Torpedo and was the fourth highest priced yearling from the first crop of her sire.

Seek and Destroy is the first Graded winner for Verrazano.
