Justify Colt on Top in OBS Opener

A Justify colt consigned by Hartley/DeRenzo Thoroughbreds topped the opening session of the OBS March Two-Year-Olds In Training Sale on Monday when Maverick Racing and Siena Farms went to $1.2 million to secure the colt.

Out of the Grade III-placed Zinzay, the colt named Saturday Dreams is a half-brother to stakes winner and Grade I-placed Moon Over Miami. The extended family also includes the multiple Grade I winner Music Note, who produced UAE champion and Grade I winner Mystic Guide, and Grade I winner Musical Chimes.

"We felt like he was the best horse in the sale. He's by Justify, I think the whole package of how he breezed and his pedigree, he was worth taking a chance on. ... He's going to go back to WinStar and we'll figure it out from there," Elliot Walden told Blood-Horse.

Bred by Summer Wind Equine, Summer Dreams was originally purchased for $250,000 by his OBS consignor from the Lane’s End consignment last year.

Saturday Dreams is the most expensive 2-year-old ever for Justify with his second highest being a $1.1 million juvenile last year.
