Justify’s Yuttitham Registers Second Win
It was another win for Justify’s Yuttitham (2c Justify x Zipessa, by City Zip) at Hanshin on Wednesday with a three-length victory.
Breaking his maiden earlier this month, the colt went off as the favorite in the 1 1/8 mile dirt race and made easy work of showing why. Bearing a striking resemblance to his Triple Crown winning sire, Yuttitham raced a few paths off the rail just behind the leader and was kept relaxed by his jockey until they worked their way toward the final furlong.
Just inside that marker, Yuttitham started to pull away for his three length win for owner Kaneko Makoto Holdings and Naosuke Sugai.
The $1,815,520 yearling purchase was bred by Shadai Farm as the first foal out of Grade I winner Zipessa. That mare was one of a strong book of mares who headed to Justify in his first year at stud after being sold at the previous year’s November sales with Shadai buying her for $1.25 million.
The only undefeated Triple Crown winner, Justify leads all freshmen sires with his six stakes winners, four graded stakes winners, and seven graded stakes performers while his 29 winners is second best in the crop.
