Miss Kitness (Competitive Edge) Breaking Maiden At Del Mar

Miss Kitness Continues Top November for Competitive Edge

Miss Kitness (2f Competitive Edge x Kitness, by Storm Cat) became the 23rd winner for her sire on Friday when breaking her maiden at Del Mar.

Running over six furlongs on dirt, Miss Kitness raced up to third soon out of the gate before vying for the lead in the turn. The filly had a clear lead as they swung into the stretch and wasn’t willing to give it up as she pulled away in the stretch to win by 2 ¼ lengths with Assael Espinoza aboard.

Trained by Shelbe Ruis, Miss Kitness was making her third start for breeder-owner Ruis Racing LLC. Her dam Kitness was purchased for $205,000 from the Fasig-Tipton Summer Selected Horses of Racing Age Sale in 2016 with Miss Kitness in utero and hails from the family of Grade I winners Sky Mesa and Maxfield.

Among the leading freshman sires this year, brilliant racehorse Competitive Edge is a sire on fire with eight winners in November. The stallion’s first crop includes four stakes winners and six stakes horses overall.
