Stone Circle (No Nay Never) Wins At The Curragh

No Nay Never Colt Lands Valuable Prize

The Michael Bell-trained Stone Circle (2c No Nay Never - Candlehill Girl, by Shamardal) made a worthwhile trip across the Irish Sea to land Sunday’s valuable Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sale Stakes at the Curragh.

The chesnut boasted some strong form, having finished fourth to Golden Horde on debut, won his maiden in July and was last seen finishing a close fourth in a competitive nursery at Goodwood. He chased the leaders under Andrea Atzeni and made good headway as they approached the final furlong, digging deep to close down on the leader. Reacting well to pressure, he denied fellow British raider Maystar by a head on the line.

Sunday’s success earned owners The Fitzrovians €147,5000 and has more than repaid Stone Circle’s €50,000 price tag as a yearling. Bred by Stephen Curran, he is a grandson of Listed winner Karamiyna, herself a full-sister to dual Group 1 winner Kartajana.
