Power Forward Completes Double For Competitive Edge

It was a big Saturday for Competitive Edge when he registered two winners in as many hours with Power Forward (3f Competitive Edge x Hard to Get, by Not For Love) easily winning at Charles Town on Saturday night.

Raced by breeder Coleswood Farm, Power Forward looked an easy winner at nearly every stage of the 6½ furlong Allowance race. Racing just behind the leaders early on, she was eager to run and Arnaldo Bocachica angled her to the outside to give her some clear running room. She soon dueled for the lead down the backstretch with the rest of the field more than four lengths behind the duo as they continued to pull away around the turn.

It was all over when Bocachica asked his mount to go with the Jeff Runco trainee easily finding a second gear to race to a six length victory as the heavy favorite in her fourth start.

A half-sister to Listed winning Slip the Cable and Listed placed Weekend Liberty, Power Forward is a granddaughter of Grade III winner Petrouchka. In addition to Power Forward’s winning dam, Petrouchka also produced Listed winners Jennie R and Willsboro Point.

One of the leading freshman sires by winners in 2019, Competitive Edge has sired 20 winners in 2020 led by Listed-placed Edgeway.
