Lust (Fastnet Rock) Wins His Maiden At Gowran Park

Promising Son Of Fastnet Rock Gets Off The Mark

The Ger Lyons-trained Lust (3g Fastnet Rock - Desire Moi, by Galileo) built on some promising performances last season to win the seven furlong maiden at Gowran on Wednesday afternoon.

A close third in a Navan maiden as a two-year-old, the Newtown Anner Stud homebred had not been seen since last July and was partnered by regular rider Colin Keane on return. Drawn wide, the bay chased the leaders for much of the way and was pushed along approaching the two furlong marker. Soon in front, he ran on strongly to score by three parts of a length.

“He’s a genuine horse that has progressed from two to three,” assistant trainer Shane Lyons later commented. “He has a nice pedigree, likes that ground and will get a bit further.”

Ger Lyons trained Lust’s half-brother Maker Of Kings (Zoffany) to win twice last season, with the bay finishing second in the Lincolnshire on return last month.
