Rouget’s “number one 2yo” wins on debut for Declaration Of War

Trainer Jean-Claude Rouget has long held Olmedo (2c Declaration Of War-Super Pie, by Pivotal) in high regard and the first-crop Declaration Of War colt did not disappoint on his debut at Deauville on Tuesday. The juvenile oozed class as he cruised home four lengths clear of the field under Cristian Demuro in the newcomers’ event, earning TDN Rising Star status in the process. “Of my 2-year-olds, he has always been the number one and was working brilliantly,” said Rouget. “He has a lovely action and stride and does things very easily. He is an easy ride and was really quite impressive.”

Bred in France by Dream With Me Stable, Olmedo was sold for €100,000 at the Arqana August Yearling Sale and races for Ecurie Antonio Caro and Gerard Augustin-Normand.
