Long Arm Becomes The Latest Winner By Rock Of Gibraltar

Son Of Rock Of Gibraltar Continues Family’s Winning Record

Long Arm (3g Rock Of Gibraltar - Llew Law, by Verglas) justified market support on debut when beating stablemate Invasion Day at Gowran Park on Saturday.

Racing over nine and a half furlongs, the Ger Lyons-trained three-year-old chased the leaders under Colin Keane and was pushed along from the two furlong pole. Closing on the leader approaching the final furlong, he led close home to win by a neck, as the front pair drew six and a half lengths clear of the favourite in third.

Lyons, whose wife Lynne owns the winner with owner/breeder Patrick Headon, later commented, “Long Arm has always been good and honest at home. I'd like to think he has a nice future ahead of him but he's one that we won't kill at three.”

Long Arm is a half-brother to Lyons’ stable star Who’s Steph (Zoffany), a four-time Stakes winner, while Lyons also trained their sibling Thunder Crash (Footstepsinthesand) to win twice.
