Stakes Double for Giant’s Causeway

Blue-blooded entire Fed Biz (4h Giant’s Causeway x Spunoutacontrol, by Wild Again) snared another major win when capturing the Grade II Pat O’Brien Stakes at Del Mar on Sunday. Prepared by Bob Baffert, Fed Biz charged home to win the seven furlong contest on the all weather surface by a length. “That’s what happens when you have a horse that loves the surface,” said winning trainer Bob Baffert. “He’s a miler, but he loves this surface. He’s been working with [Grade I winner] Paynter [Awesome Again] and just breezing over it. I told Martin [Garcia] to be patient and, hopefully, the speed will come back to you. We got a great run today.” A $950,000 Keeneland September Yearling purchase, Fed Biz runs for Kaleem Shah and has won five of 14 starts and more than $540,000 in prizemoney. He is a half-brother to stakes-winner Spun Silk from the stakes-winner Spunoutacontrol, who is a half-sister to Grade I winner Minardi, Grade II winner and leading sire Tale of the Cat as well as the dam of champion 2YO and successful sire Johannesburg. Giant’s Causeway made it a stakes double when Imagining (5h Giant’s Causeway x Daydreaming by AP Indy) took out the $100,000 Idle Rich Stakes at Saratoga.
