Zoffany Filly Reaches Group 1 Heights At Longchamp

Albigna (2f Zoffany - Freedonia, by Selkirk) continued a fantastic season for Jessica Harrington when running out a clear winner of the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac at Longchamp on Sunday.

The Niarchos family homebred won on debut in May and followed up with Group 2 success in the Airlie Stud Stakes, before disappointed at Group 1 level last month, when she was later reported in season. Stepping up to a mile, she was ridden close to the pace by Shane Foley and began to make good headway as they approached the two furlong park. Running on well to take second entering the final furlong, she soon led and kept on to win by two and a half lengths.

Albigna becomes the second top-level winner by Zoffany and the first bred from his career-high fee following an impressive start with his juveniles in 2015. With 15 individual Group winners and the same number of Listed winners, he commanded €25,000 this season.
