Air Force Blue Head

$180,000 Filly For Air Force Blue

In what proved to be a big debut 2-year-old sale for freshman sire Air Force Blue, the second day of the OBS March 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale saw the European Champion 2-Year-Old’s Hip 413 sell for $180,000.

Bought by Belladonna Racing from de Meric Sales, the filly breezed in :10.1 at last week’s Under Tack show and impressed in the sales ring. The first foal from the Quality Road mare Sirenage, she is a granddaughter of Group I winner Potrinner. The dam of nine winners, Potrinner is also the dam of Grade III winner Melhor Ainda and Listed winner Danon Go Go with her daughters producing Listed winning New York Groove and Group III-placed Razeena.

“We like this filly a lot. She is very good looking, looks very precocious and goes beautifully on the dirt. She’s the kind that could go anywhere, we have high hopes for her,” Tris de Meric said of the filly before the sale.

Bred by Colts Neck Stables, the filly is also from the family of Argentina Champion 2-Year-Old Filly Potridee and was a $140,000 Keeneland September yearling.

She was one of two six-figure yearlings for Air Force Blue at the OBS March Sale to kick off what looks to be a top freshman season for the precocious Champion, who was the highest rated 2-year-old ever trained by Aidan O’Brien.
