€300,000 Holy Roman colt at Goffs

A son of Holy Roman Emperor proved a hot property at the Goffs Orby Sale on Wednesday when selling for €300,000 to Mark Richards of the Hong Kong Jokey Club.

Holy Roman Emperor has been a huge success around the globe, and in particular in Hong Kong, so it was not a total surprise to see Richards target this colt, who is the second foal of the G3-placed Icebreaking.

“It’s been a very strong sale and it’s been hard to buy what we wanted, but we are very happy with what we have come away with. There’s no surprise in the sire who we bought and we knew we’d have to pay for this colt, who is typical of Holy Roman Emperor,” said Richards.
