Giorgio Vasari (Air Force Blue) records Naas Victory

Giorgio Vasari Wins Again for Air Force Blue

It was a second consecutive victory for Air Force Blue’s blue-blooded son Giorgio Vasari (2c Air Force Blue x Dream The Blues, by Oasis Dream) in Ireland on Monday over six furlongs to kick off the card at Naas.

The Aidan O’Brien trainee broke strongly under Wayne Lordan and went straight to the lead to set the tone for the rest of the race. Lordan looked confident in his mount throughout, letting the colt find his way mostly on his own until they reached the final furlong.

Giving him a few reminders as only one rival from the field closed in, Giorgio Vasari picked up speed and won by an easy two lengths without ever being asked for his full effort.

"He’s done it well today. He rolled around a bit in the first-time blinkers in Limerick and I felt like he could improve a good bit from that run,” Lordan told Irishracing.com. “I think he did improve. He jumped and he travelled. He was very professional and gets six furlongs really well. I always felt the six was going to be an ideal trip for him, and I was able to control it a bit from the front. He put his head down and got to the line really well.”

Bred by Fethard Bloodstock and raced by the Coolmore partners, Giorgio Vasari is a half-brother to Group I winner and young stallion Sioux Nation among four winners from five to race out of Dream The Blues.

Dream The Blues herself is out of Irish champion Catch The Blues, whose daughters have produced Group III winner My Catch and Listed winner and Group I-placed Vladimir among six stakes horses.

Europe’s Champion 2-Year-Old and the highest rated 2-year-old Aidan O’Brien has ever trained, Air Force Blue’s first crop has already produced three winners in two countries, including stakes placed Chief Little Hawk.
