Impressive Maiden Winner For In-Form Rock Of Gibraltar

Thursday saw Strawberry Rock (3g Rock Of Gibraltar - Strawberry Vodka, by Azamour) justify strong market support when making a winning debut in the ten furlong maiden at Beverley.

Sent off favourite under Ben Curtis, the bay tracked the leader until asserting three furlongs from home. Ridden approaching the furlong pole, he soon went clear and kept on strongly to win by six lengths.

Trained by Hugo Palmer for the Fomo (rock) Syndicate, Strawberry Rock was bred by Sinead Sunderland and Sinead Bishop. Rock Of Gibraltar has previously enjoyed success with the family, with the second dam producing Listed winner and Group 2 performer Tony Curtis (Rock Of Gibraltar). Strawberry Rock continues a fine week for the Castlehyde Stud sire, whose son Ten Year Ticket extended his unbeaten record in Tuesday’s Listed contest at Leopardstown.
