Eagles Flight (Gleneagles) Wins His Maiden At Dundalk

Improving Gleneagles Colt Gets Off The Mark

Eagle’s Flight (3c Gleneagles - Love Excelling, by Polish Precedent) built on some promising performances to gain his maiden victory at Dundalk on Friday evening.

John Connaughton’s homebred had previously placed on two occasions, including over Friday’s course and distance of ten furlongs. Ronan Whelan rode the Michael Halford-trained bay to chase the leaders, asking him to quicken from two furlongs out and soon led, keeping on well to win by three parts of a length.

Speaking after the race, the winning rider said, “He deserved that. He's been improving, more so with time than anything. He won that well and was entitled to do it.”

The son of Gleneagles is a half-brother to four winners, with a yearling colt by Australia left to run.
