Justify Colt In Command In Gulfstream MSW Victory

Justin’s Legacy (3c Justify x Look At Me, by Danehill Dancer) proved to be another one to keep an eye on by his sire on Sunday when the colt romped to a five length Maiden Special Weight victory.

Sent straight to the lead by Marcos Meneses, Justin’s Legacy stayed in that position with just under a length separating him and the rest of the field in the 1 1/16 mile turf race. Another horse tried to catch him as they exited the far turn but that’s when he was unleased and Justin’s Legacy quickly put distance behind them before pulling away even farther in the stretch before crossing the line five lengths in front.

Trained by Amador Merei Sanchez for Lamarock Stable, the colt was bred by the Don Alberto Corporation out of the stakes winning Look At Me. That mare has also produced stakes winner Kind of Magic and one other winner from her four to race. Look At Me is out of the Group III winner and Group I placed Queen Cleopatra, who produced Grade III winner Francis of Assisi. Another one of Queen Cleopatra’s daughters produced Grade II winner and multiple Grade I placed Cliffsofmoher.

With champion Sequoyah as his third dam, the colt also hails from the family of champions Henrythenavigator and Listen among others.

Look At Me foaled a Mendelssohn colt in April.

It’s been a big week for Justify with Arabian Lion winning a stakes last Saturday and a $400,000 colt sold at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May 2-Year-Old Sale on Tuesday rounding out his late May accomplishments.
