Justify Wednesday Offerings Topped by $450,000 Colt

Justify again had the highest offering from a freshman sire on Wednesday at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearlings Sale when his colt out of Back to Love sold for $450,000.

Purchased by John Fahey, the colt offered by Hunter Valley Farm was bred by Peter A. Berglar Racing Interests and Anderson Farms in Ontario. This was his second time through the ring after he was purchased by Colt Pike from Anderson Farm’s consignment in January at Keeneland.

Born in May, the colt is the second from the Street Cry mare Back to Love, who is a half-sister to Grade III winner Necessary Evil and to the dam of stakes winner and Grade II-placed Sergei Prokofiev.

Justify’s second most expensive of the day was a $250,000 colt purchased by Randy Bradshaw out of the Unbridled’s Song mare Aguilera. Bred by Seclusive Farm, Chester Prince, and Anne Prince, the colt offered by Baccari Bloodstock is a half-brother to the stakes winner and Grade II-placed Bluegrass Singer among Aguilera’s three winners.

Aguilera is a half-sister to Scat Daddy’s Group I winner Mr Melody, making the colt closely related to that one, and to Grade III-placed Trendy Lady. Aguilera is also a granddaughter of the multiple graded stakes winner Klassy Kim.

After three sessions, Justify’s yearlings are averaging $233,125 with a median of $235,000 with three yearlings in the top 10.
