Lucky Polly Wins Martha Washington for Lookin At Lucky

Lucky Polly (3f Lookin At Lucky x Polly Alexander, by Foxhound) gave Lookin At Lucky his newest stakes winner on Saturday with a victory in the Martha Washington Stakes at Gulfstream Park.

Running over a mile on the turf for Gary Barber, Lucky Polly was among the first out of the gate and was happy to settle in second nearly 10 lengths behind the pacesetter. As they closed into the final two furlongs, Lucky Polly wasn’t content to let Blue Mistress get an easy run all the way around the track and closed the gap in the far turn.

The chesnut filly was on the leader's heels in the stretch and dug deep to catch Blue Mistress in the closing strides, winning by a nose for trainer Mark Casse.

The 56th stakes winner for her sire, Lucky Polly was bred by Nicholas Sibillo. She is the third stakes winner for her stakes placed dam Polly Alexander, who is also a half-sister to Grade II winner and Grade I-placed Medici Code.

Siring stakes winners year after year, value stallion Lookin At Lucky is a truly international sire with 13 Grade I winners and 56 stakes winners coming in five different countries.
