Zihba (Choisir) winning the G3 Amethyst Stakes at Leopardstown

Next stop Guineas after G3 win for Choisir colt Zihba

Trainer Fozzy Stack has his eyes on Classic glory with Zihba (3c Choisir-Fancy Vivid, by Galileo) following the Choisir colt’s success at Leopardstown on Sunday.

The three-year-old was sent off a well-backed favourite for the G3 Amethyst Stakes and rewarded his supporters when hitting the front a furlong from home and going on to score by a length and a half. His next stop will be the G1 Irish 2,000 Guineas.

“He did it well. It’s not easy to beat those older horses,” said Stack. “We’ll line him up for the Irish Guineas and whether he’s good enough or not we’ll see. He wants fast ground. We were thinking of going for the Craven and Tetrarch but we waited and this is where we ended up coming in the end. He works well and has always pleased us.”

Mark and Caroline Hanly bred Zihba.
