Son Of Wootton Bassett Secures Fourth Stakes Success

Dual Group winner Chindit (4c Wootton Bassett - Always A Dream, by Oasis Dream) made a smart return to action in the Listed Doncaster Mile Stakes on the opening day of the British turf season.

Sent off favourite under Rossa Ryan, the Richard Hannon-trained bay was ridden to lead a furlong from home and kept on well to score by two and a quarter lengths.

“Chindit has done that with class more than anything,” the winning rider said after the race. “He's a class act, to pull as hard as he did and to get to the front and idle and still put the race to bed. If he comes forward again hopefully a big one can fall in for him and we see the Chindit we saw as a two-year-old.”

Owned by Michael Pescod, Chindit is now a four-time winner at Stakes level. The son of Wootton Bassett was bred by Kilminfoyle House Stud and Rory Mahon.
