American Lady (Starspangledbanner) wins maiden at Dundalk

Starspangledbanner Filly Gains Deserved Win On Return

American Lady (3f Starspangledbanner - Show Me Off, by Showcasing) made a successful return from a break to gain a well-deserved win at Dundalk on Friday evening.

Unseen since September, the Fozzy Stack-trained filly finished fourth in three Stakes contests as a juvenile. She was one of 14 to line up for the five furlong maiden, with Chris Hayes settling her behind the leader and was pushed along to lead approaching the final furlong. Ridden inside the final furlong, she held on to win by half a length from the favourite.

Bred by B & C Equine in partnership with Philip and Mrs Myerscough, American Lady was bought by Maura Gittins for £200,000 after finishing fourth in the Group 3 Coolmore Stud Fillies’ Sprint Stakes. She is part of an exciting crop of three-year-olds by Starspangledbanner, which also includes Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes winner Millisle.
