US Grade Two Winner for Galileo

Irish bred Platinum Warrior (4h Galileo x Laugh Out Loud, by Clodovil) scored his first Black Type win in the US when taking out the $202,808 Grade II San Marcos Stakes at Santa Anita on Saturday.

A Group III winner of the Gallinule Stakes at The Curragh last year at three, he was also fourth in the Grade I Arlington Park Secretariat Stakes so had plenty of class on his side for a race like this.

Now trained by John Sadler, he relished the 1 and ¼ mile turf contest and strode clear to win by three-quarters of a length taking his overall record to three wins from 12 starts.

The San Marcos victory may have earned Platinum Warrior a trip to Dubai, according to trainer John Sadler.

“It will be kind of up to owner [Yuesheng Zhang],” Sadler said, mentioning both the Dubai World Cup festival and June 23 GIII San Juan Capistrano as possible targets.

“Michael Donahue is kind of his representative in Europe, and they have horses all over the world, but hopefully we will be able to run him in some longer races as we go along. He can run a mile and a half, no problem.”

Platinum Warrior is the first winner from French Group II winner Laugh Out Loud.
