Total Recall (Westerner) winning the Grade A Thyestes Handicap Chase at Gowran Park

Another Thyestes winner for Westerner

While a lot of the action was obscured by the fog, today's valuable Grade A Thyestes Chase at Gowran Park was ultimately won in clear-cut fashion by the Willie Mullins-trained Total Recall (Westerner) in the colours of the Slaneyville Syndicate. “A few good jumps put me in the position I wanted to be in,” commented winning jockey Danny Mullins. “After that it was plain sailing.”

A former winner of the Ladbrokes Trophy at Newbury, Total Recall was bred by John Connolly out of the Dr Massini mare Augest Weekend who is currently in foal to Order Of St George.

Total Recall’s success was the fourth consecutive Thyestes for the Coolmore N.H. sires with Invitation Only (Flemensfirth), Monbeg Notorious (Milan) and Champagne West (Westerner) having landed the three previous renewals.
