Tudor City (Yeats) winning the Grade A Galway Hurdle

Deserved Galway Hurdle Success For Son Of Yeats

Tudor City (7g Yeats - She’s Our Mare, by Commanche Run) landed a well-deserved valuable prize when taking the €300,000 Galway Hurdle on Thursday for Tony Martin and owner John Breslin.

The seven-year-old has been ultra-consistent for connections, often placing in valuable contests on both the flat and over hurdles. Robbie Power took the ride and positioned his mount in mid-division, making headway from two out to go fourth at the final flight. Driven out, Tudor City ran on well between horses on the run-in to lead close home and win by half a length. Longtime leader Due Reward (Westerner) finished second to complete a 1-2 for Castle Hyde Stud stallions.

Delighted winning owner Breslin commented after the race, “It’s brilliant to win the race again. We always knew there was a big one in Tudor City. He had been knocking on the door so often and I’m absolutely delighted that door finally opened for him.”

Tudor City was bred by Denis Reddan and is a half-brother to Cork National victor Our Monty (Montjeu). Their dam, She’s Our Mare was a talented dual-purpose campaigner, her 12 wins including success in the Cambridgeshire Handicap and three black-type hurdle races.

Yeats stood for €5,000 at Castle Hyde Stud this season.
