Excelebration Colt Wins First Start For French Stable
Beeswax (3c Excelebration - Aifa, by Johann Quatz) made a winning start for the Gavin Hernon stable when taking the Prix du Parc Laversin at Chantilly on Friday.
Placed on his final start for Ed Walker, the grey faced 11 rivals in the three-year-old maiden over nine and a half furlongs. Ridden towards the back of the field by Maxime Guyon, the grey improved into midfield as they turned for home and quickened well in the straight to join the leading trio inside the final furlong. Continuing to run on strongly, the colt beat Majdi by three parts of a length on the line.
The winner, who is owned by Eamonn O’Connor, was bred by a partnership including M Daguzan-Garros and B Chalmel. His sire, Excelebration, has enjoyed an excellent start at stud, with his progeny including Group 1 St James’s Palace Stakes victor Barney Roy. He stands for €8,000 at Castlehyde Stud this season.
