Kingston Kid (Kingston Hill) Wins At Tramore

First Crop Hurdle Winner For Kingston Hill

A drop back in trip saw Kingston Kid (4g Kingston Hill - Millys Gesture, by Milan) get off the mark over hurdles at Tramore on Thursday.

A close second over three miles last month, the Eugene O’Sullivan-trained grey dropped back to two miles and five furlongs, as Maxine O’Sullivan took the ride for the first time. Midfield for much of the way, he made headway from two out and led close home, digging deep to deny the favourite by a head on the line.

Speaking after the race, the winning rider said, “He’s a lovely horse who has progressed greatly.”

A €32,000 foal purchase, Kingston Kid was bred by GCE Farm and hails from the first crop of Castlehyde Stud sire Kingston Hill. Kingston Hill’s three-year-olds sold for up to €52,000 at the 2021 store sales and was bought by the likes of Highflyer Bloodstock, Monbeg Stables, Cobajay Stables and Peter and Ross Doyle.
