Gleneagles Filly Beats The Boys In Juvenile Stakes Contest

The progressive Seisai (2f Gleneagles - Lillebonne, by Danehill Dancer) displayed a winning attitude to match her talent when landing the Listed Coolmore Stud Churchill Stakes at Tipperary on Friday evening.

An eye-catching third on debut, the Joseph O’Brien-trained bay won her maiden next time out and was last seen finishing third behind stablemate Agartha (Caravaggio) in the Group 3 Silver Flash Stakes. Ridden by Shane Crosse once again on Friday, the sole filly in the field raced prominently throughout and was pushed along to challenge approaching the final furlong. Ridden to lead 110 yards out, she kept on to score by half a length, with over two lengths back to the third.

“There is not a whole lot of her but she’s very good,” Cross later commented. “She had to take on the boys today. There is a strong headwind and it wasn’t easy- she had to be tough. Onwards and upwards hopefully.”

The daughter of Gleneagles is bred to improve in time, should she take after her two black-type siblings. Owned by Simon Munir and Isaac Souede, she was bred by Peter Henley, John Connolly and Pattern Bloodstock out of the Danehill Dancer mare Lillebonne; the same cross as Group 2 winners Royal Dornoch (Gleneagles), Loving Dream (Gleneagles) and Insinuendo (Gleneagles).
