Alabama Whitman Becomes The Latest Winner By Ivawood

Ivawood Filly Looks Set For Return To Stakes Company

A return to Stakes company looks on the cards for Alabama Whitman (2f Ivawood - Mutoon, by Erhaab) after the progressive filly justified favoritism in Thursday’s Fillies’ Novice Stakes at Carlisle.

Trained by Richard Spencer for Rebel Racing, the bay finished second to Ivatheengine (Ivawood) on debut and went on to finish a fine fourth in the Group 3 Albany Stakes. Stepping up to seven furlongs for the first time, she was ridden to track the leaders and was shaken up to lead over a furlong out, from which Paul Mulrennan pushed her out to beat Tulip Fields by a length.

Alabama Whitman was bred by Robert Pocock out of Mutoon, a half-sister to dual Stakes winner Ranin, while the second dam was Listed-placed.
