Sales Debut for First Australian Weanlings for Justify, Saxon Warrior and Mendelssohn

The Inglis Australian Weanling Sale at Riverside Stables (May 6) this week will see the first Australian bred offspring of Coolmore shuttlers Justify, Saxon Warrior and Mendelssohn being offered for sale in the Southern Hemisphere.

Undefeated Triple Crown hero Justify was a sales sensation last year in North America where his first Northern Hemisphere bred foals were in strong demand and sold for up to $US750,000 in a pandemic impacted market.

A powerhouse chesnut by Champion sire Scat Daddy, Justify is an imposing individual and has stamped many of his stock.

He has been a popular choice with Australian breeders and covered an extraordinary book of mares in 2019 so has a stunning first crop of foals here with a small selection to be offered at sales in coming weeks, firstly at Riverside Stables and then later in the month at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale on the Gold Coast.

Justify has four entries for the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale and they include the half-sister to Group II winner and $1.5million earner Fiesta and the half-brother to Singapore Champion 2YO Super One.

Justify returns to Australia this spring at a fee of $55,000.

A Group I winner over a mile at two and three in the UK, Japanese bred Saxon Warrior combines the blood of Champion sires Deep Impact, Galileo and Danehill with his first European bred foals selling for up to 280,000 guineas last year.

Saxon Warrior has four entries for the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale and they include youngsters from well-bred mares by Champion sires Encosta de Lago, High Chaparral and Fastnet Rock.

Saxon Warrior returns to Australia this spring at a fee of $13,750.

Another Group I winning son of Scat Daddy, blue-blooded Mendelssohn shuttled to Australia for just the one season, but has much to offer as a half-brother to Champion US sire Into Mischief and Champion US 2YO, 3YO and Older Mare Beholder.

Mendelssohn has six entries for the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale and they include youngsters from well bred daughters of Champion sires Galileo, I Am Invincible and Encosta de Lago.

Mendelssohn now stands at Ashford Stud in Kentucky for Coolmore at a fee of $US35,000.
