Son Of Yeats Shows Winning Attitude With Listed Success

A thrilling finish to the Listed bet365 Summer Cup at Uttoxeter saw Brave Eagle (7g Yeats - Sinful Pleasure, by Sinndar) dig deep to deny Killaro Boy by the narrowest of margins.

The Nicky Henderson-trained bay carry top weight on Sunday following three wins from four starts over fences, with his sole defeat being a fine third in a valuable contest in October. Stepping up to three miles and two furlongs, he was held up in a field of 14 by Nico de Boinville and began to make gradual headwayafter the halfway point. Shaken up to lead at the last, he was ridden out to hold off a challenge and held on by a nose.

Speaking after the race, De Boinville was full of praise for the winners attitude, saying, “If you put Brave Eagle into a battle he is going to keep on pulling it out for you as he showed there. He is as tough as they come and does not know when he is beaten.”

Brave Eagle’s fine record over fences adds to five wins over hurdles, while he was placed twice between the flags before being purchased privately by owner Robert Kirkland. Bred by Mrs C Hartery and J Dewberry, he is a half-brother to Paiardina, a Listed winner and Group 2 placed on the flat.
