War Command Colt Gains Maiden Win In Style

Friday saw Tafish (2c War Command - Zigarra, by Halling) put his experience to good use when racing home strongly to win the seven furlong Novice Stakes at Southwell.

Shane Kelly rode the bay to case the leaders, asking him to quicken three furlongs from home, with the colt making good headway to challenge approaching the final furlong. He soon asserted and ran on well to score by two and a half lengths.

Trained by Richard Hughes for Jaber Abdullah, Tafish was a €95,000 yearling purchase by his trainer alongside Blandford Bloodstock. He was bred by Kildaragh Stud and is a half-brother to three-time Listed winner Battalion.
