Total Recall (Westerner) winning the Grade B William Fry Handicap Hurdle at Leopardstown

Total Recall looks National prospect for Westerner

Willie Mullins switched Total Recall (9g Westerner-Augest Weekend, by Dr Massini) to hurdles with success to claim another big prize at Leopardstown on Sunday.

The Westerner gelding was a well-backed favourite as he added the valuable Grade B William Fry Handicap Hurdle to a seasonal hail that already included the Ladbrokes Trophy Chase at Newbury and Munster National at Limerick.

“I think the Bobbyjo Chase is probably next and it would look like he's a Grand National horse,” said Mullins. “He is still in the Gold Cup and I'll see what way it's working out but the Bobbyjo would look Plan A at the moment.

“Paul (Townend) didn't want to be fighting with him at the back so took a chance letting him on and hoped for the best. You wouldn't think a three mile chaser would want to go much faster but he was going so easy.”

Total Recall was bred by John Connolly.
