30th Stakes-Winner for Choisir
Choisir posted his 30th stakes-winner at Morphettville on Sunday when lightly raced filly Manhattan Maid (2f Choisir x Take Manhattan, by Marauding) proved too good in the Listed SAJC Dequetteville Stakes. The Darren Weir trained filly was having third race start having won easily at Caulfield at her previous run beating Light Touch, who again had to settle for second place, with Manhattan Maid taking the 1100 metre sprint by a long head. Not offered at auction, Manhattan Maid was bred by Limerick Lane Thoroughbreds and is one of four winners from the Marauding mare Take Manhattan, whose dam Celeris is a full sister to juvenile stakes-winners Dawn Command and True Label. Standing at a fee of $33,000 at Coolmore Australia this spring, Choisir is having his usual good season with Manhattan Maid his fifth individual Australian stakes-winner since August 1 and Group I AJC Doncaster Handicap winner Sacred Choice his star performer.
