90,000gns Champs Elysees colt stands out at Tatts
It’s been a good week on the track for Champs Elysees and he also made his mark in the Tattersalls sales ring on Thursday as Book 3 of the October Yearling Sale got underway.
A colt out of the Giant's Causeway mare Elpida realised 90,000gns after agent Kevin Ross fought off Charlie Johnston, assistant to his father Mark.
He was offered for breeders Ropsley Bloodstock and St Albans Bloodstock by Whatton Manor Stud and had a pedigree update this year thanks to his G3-winning juvenile half-brother Sporting Chance.
“He was a beautiful individual and a half-brother to a good horse who was the first foal out of the mare. I knew we would have to push the boat out to get this one,” said Ross, who was buying for owners Paul and Clare Rooney.
Ed Player of Whatton Manor Stud added: “He was foaled with us, then came back to us this time last year. He became such a big, good-moving type. I’m thrilled for his breeders, who put so much into this industry.”
