Albert’s a top juvenile hurdler for Champs Elysees
Albert’s Back (3g Champs Elysees-Neath, by Rainbow Quest) made it two from two over hurdles with a superb success at Wetherby on Wednesday.
The Mick Easterby-trained three-year-old always travelled well and eventually prevailed by 11 lengths in the juvenile contest. Connections are understandably eyeing bigger targets.
The Champs Elysees gelding races for the Golden Ratio Partnership and spokesman James Bray told the Racing Post: “Albert's Back has done it nicely and we're delighted with him. We weren't sure he'd get the pace he needed to aim at but he handled it nicely.
“We're not sure that Cheltenham would be the right track for him, we'll step him up in grade next month and see how he gets on and there may be a race for him at Aintree.”
