Book Review Back to Best

A Grade I winner last year, quality mare Book Review (4m Giant’s Causeway x Clever Babe, by Distorted Humor) hit top form on Saturday to win the Grade II A Gleam Handicap at Betfair Hollywood Park. Having her first run since February, the Bob Baffert trained mare hit the line hard to win the seven furlong sprint by two and a half lengths. “She loves this distance and it helped that we had a couple of good front runners,” said MikeMarlow, assistant to Baffert. “It set up well. It's actually what we had in mind. [Rafael Bejarano] rode her well. That was her first start on synthetic and that might have been her best footing. I think she really liked it.” A homebred for Gary and Mary West Stables, Book Review has the overall record of six wins and five placings from 13 starts with prizemoney of $784,955. Book Review is by champion sire Giant’s Causeway from Clever Babe, a half-sister by Distorted Humor to Grade I winner Irish Smoke.
