Competitive Edge’s Divertida Impresses In Chile
Divertida (3f Competitive Edge x Sweet Fun, by Mon Pote Le Gitan) became Competitive Edge's newest winner when she impressively broke her maiden at Club Hipico de Santiago with a 3¼ length romp on the grass.
Second twice before, the filly went straight to the front in the 1000 metre race where she battled for the lead early on. As they approached the final two furlongs, Divertida easily pulled away to open more than five lengths on the field with a late closer shrinking the lead but never threatening the winner.
A homebred winner for Haras Convento Viejo, Divertida is trained by Patricio Baeza.
The filly is a half-sister to six other winners, including Group II winner Botellon and is from the family of Chilean champion Normality and dual-Group I winner Leitone.
A leading freshman sire by winners last year, second crop sire Competitive Edge has 73 worldwide winners with four stakes winners and 11 stakes horses in North America.
