Competitive Idea Ends 2019 On High Note For Competitive Edge
Competitive Edge’s final runner of 2019 ended the year on a high note Tuesday afternoon when Competitive Idea (2g Competitive Edge x That’s The Idea, by Diabolical) won his second race.
Running over six furlongs, Competitive Idea took the lead a few strides out of the gate and was pressured throughout the early stages by a pair of rivals. Once he shrugged off those early adversaries, jockey Ry Eikleberry looked confident on the favorite when letting him gallop along about a length in front of the field. Eikleberry didn’t have to start working until the final furlong when he gave Competitive Idea a few taps to get him to open up a bit more when a late running rival tried to make a run at him.
It was clear Competitive Idea had plenty left when winning by 2 ¼ lengths for trainer Todd Fincher and breeder-owners J. Kirk and Judy Robison.
Competitive Idea has proven to have a bright future going into his 3-year-old season with two wins and a stakes placing in his three starts.
He is one of six stakes horses and 28 winners worldwide for his sire, who ends his freshman season among the leading stallions of his generation, led by four stakes winners.
