De Bromhead Impressed By Imperial Monarch Mare
Henry de Bromhead was full of praise for Imperial View (4f Imperial Monarch - Sunset View, by Good Thyne) after she gained her first win over hurdles at Tipperary on Monday.
One of 17 to line up for the Mares Maiden Hurdle over two and a half miles, she was ridden to chase the leaders by Rachael Blackmore and was asked to quicken as they approached the turn for home. Driven out, she led from the last and stayed on well to win by two lengths and three quarters.
Speaking after the race, de Bromhead said, “She's a lovely mare who we bought out of a point-to-point last year from Michael Murphy in Wexford, he recommended her. She's been lovely since we got her and hopefully can improve again, she was still pretty green. She's a real chasing mare and looks a staying type. Rachael [Blackmore] was brilliant on her. We've got some lovely mares for the owners.”
The owners in question are John Schuster, Mrs Graziella Schuster and Alexei Schuster. Imperial View was bred by Colm Looney and is a half-sister to three-time winner Daymar Bay (Oscar).
