Derby aim for latest Pour Moi stakes winner

Connections have their sights on the G2 Derby Italiano after Freedom Bell (3c Pour Moi-Querida, by Rainbow Quest) became the latest black-type scorer for Pour Moi in Rome on Sunday.

The progressive three-year-old heads to the Classic unbeaten after winning the Listed Premio Botticelli for owner Scuderia Effevi. The Pour Moi colt, who was bred by Razza del Velino, scored at Pisa in November and took the Premio Guido Clerici before this latest victory.

The EBN commented that “the robust colt …. came from off the pace. He is still improving and was eyecatching”.

Meanwhile, keep an eye out for the Marco Botti-trained Mr Khalid (3c Pour Moi-Island Dreams, by Giant's Causeway), a Nottingham maiden winner last season for owner-breeders Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar.

In a recent Racing Post stable tour, Botti singled out the Pour Moi colt as a horse to follow. Botti commented: “A laidback character who doesn't do that much at home but he's done tremendously well over the winter and developed into a nice three-year-old…. He stays well and I think he should progress. He's quite an exciting horse and we've given him some fancy entries. He'd need to improve but he's still unexposed.”
