War Command winning the Dewhurst

Dewhurst winner War Command retired to Coolmore

Last year’s Dewhurst Stakes winner War Command has been retired and will stand at Coolmore for the upcoming breeding season.

The son of War Front stormed to prominence when demolishing his 14 rivals by six lengths in the Coventry Stakes just 11 days after winning his maiden first time out at Leopardstown. Stepping back up to seven furlongs he recorded two further successes in the Group 2 Futurity Stakes and the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes. Bred by Joseph Allen, War Command is out of Wandering Star (Red Ransom), who won the Grade 2 E.P. Taylor Stakes for trainer James Fanshawe.

“War Command is a big, powerful horse with a beautiful action”, said trainer Aidan O’Brien. “Speed and power is what he’s all about.”

“For breeders looking to produce good, fast early two-year-olds with the class to contest the top races at the end of the season, War Command looks to be the ideal stallion prospect,” said Coolmore’s Director of Sales David O’Loughlin.  “He’s a fantastic mover, he comes from a good family and he’s by a great sire.”
