Dylan Thomas at the double

Dylan Thomas had a couple of impressive winners on Sunday with Athens (3c Dylan Thomas-Rafina, by Mr Prospector) taking a Navan conditions event and Best Of All (3f Dylan Thomas-Bright Sky, by Wolfhound) scoring in France. A maiden winner last season, the Aidan O’Brien-trained Athens made all the running to take the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Race by an impressive two lengths. Rider Joseph O’Brien told www.irishracing.com: “He's an uncomplicated horse and he did that the hard way. I'd like to think he'd get a bit further.” Athens, who was bred in partnership with the Niarchos family, hails from the family of Machiavellian and the Elie Lellouche-trained Best Of All is another well-bred three-year-old. Home-bred by the Wildenstein family, she is a daughter of the French Oaks heroine Bright Sky and ran out a two-length winner of a maiden at Longchamp.
