Dylan Thomas mare Bonne Eleve all class with another black-type win
Fabulous Dylan Thomas mare Bonne Eleve (7m Dylan Thomas-Behariya, by Sadler's Wells) continued her remarkable year at Auteuil on Tuesday when adding another Listed hurdle to her record.
The seven-year-old, who is three from three in 2018, won the Listed Dawn Run Hurdle over an extended 2m 3f by a length and three-quarters, rounding off her racing career in brilliant style.
She also won in Listed company at the same course less than a fortnight earlier and a delighted trainer Nicolas de Lageneste of the improving mare said: “We wanted to to see her limit and we haven’t yet seen it!”
De Lageneste is also the mare’s owner-breeder, via Haras de Saint-Voir, and she will now retire to the paddocks on a high, having been covered this year.
"Has she improved after being covered? I don’t know,” opined de Lagenese. “But she has been more and more settled and confident in herself. She has class and is improving and her jockey told me she still had a lot in the tank.
“She has finished ahead of a lot of decent performers, even Grade 1 horses, and we just don’t know her limit. She showed she was Group-class.”
