Edge To Edge Latest Winner For Competitive Edge

Only a few hours after Competitive Edge’s Competitive Idea finished second in a stakes, the stallion secured his second 2-year-old winner of the year with Edge To Edge (2c Competitive Edge x Brief Mark, by Benchmark).

Racing under the lights at Prairie Meadows, Edge To Edge duelled the leader in the 5½ furlong dirt race, keeping the pressure on throughout.

In the turn, Edge To Edge gained the advantage and left most of the field behind. There was only one horse within seven lengths of Edge To Edge at the wire as the colt broke his maiden in his second start by 2½ lengths for owner Peggy Thompson and trainer Dan McFarlane.

One of 52 worldwide winners for his second crop sire, Yeamans Racing Stable-bred Edge To Edge is a half-brother to Munnings’ Listed placed He’s Munnie out of eight-time winner Brief Mark.

Brief Mark is a half-sister to Listed placed Ran for the Dough and Lucky Mr. K from a family that includes Uncle Mo’s stakes winning son Owen’s Mo and Group I winner Ad Valorem.

Among the leading freshmen sires, Competitive Edge has four stakes winners and eight stakes horses from his first crop with winners in eight different countries.
