Edgee Angel (Competitive Edge) wins Turfway Maiden

Edgee Angel 40th Winner For Competitive Edge

Edgee Angel (3f Competitive Edge x Restless Angel, by Fusaichi Pegasus) put on a show in the rain at Turfway Park on Saturday when blitzing home to a maiden victory in her 2020 debut.

Racing over a mile on the all weather surface, Edgee Angel went wide into the first turn before dropping to the back of the main pack to position herself closer to the rail. As the field entered the far turn, Edgee Angel edged closer to the leaders with Albin Jimenez asking her to put her best foot forward on the outside of the field. As they turned into the stretch, Edgee Angel took over the lead to quickly pull away by 9¼ lengths for her maiden victory.

It was the first start of the year for the Garry Simms-trained filly, who is owned by Dorothy Self, Zack Simms, and Jay Moreson.

Bred by Stillmeadow Farm and out of Fusaichi Pegasus daughter Restless Angel, she is a granddaughter of Grade II winner Latour and a half-sister to Uncle Mo’s winning daughter Cool Mo. Restless Angel had a Competitive Edge colt in 2019 and was part of Mo Town’s first book.

Edgee Angel is the 40th worldwide winner for Competitive Edge, whose outstanding first crop includes four stakes winners and six stakes horses overall.
