Edgeway (Competitive Edge) Winning At Oaklawn Park

Edgeway Impressive Debut Winner for Competitive Edge

Edgeway (3f Competitive Edge x Magical Solution, by Stormin Fever) made her debut count on Saturday when storming home for a first win at Oaklawn Park.

Racing over six furlongs, Edgeway was sent straight to the lead by jockey Tyler Baze for trainer John Sadler. With the filly keen to run, Baze kept a tight hold on her as she raced about a length ahead of the field down the backstretch. As they entered the turn, she was challenged by Cynical Girl, who took a brief lead but Edgeway wasn’t going to give up that easy and stuck her head back in front quickly.

In the stretch, Edgeway put the race to bed when pulling away to win by an impressive five lengths and earning a 94 Beyer figure.

Raced by Hronis Racing, Edgeway was a $275,000 purchase by Martin Anthony from Mayberry Farm at the OBS April 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale last year. Bred by Pope McLean, Valerie Blethen and David Blethen, Edgeway is out of a Listed winning half-sister to Grade I winner The Lumber Guy and Listed wining Bold Deed.

Quickly proving to be one of the best values in Kentucky, Competitive Edge has sired 38 worldwide winners led by six stakes horses and four stakes winning juveniles.
