Edgeway Wins Again For Competitive Edge
Competitive Edge’s talented daughter Edgeway (3f Competitive Edge x Magical Solution, by Stormin Fever) added another impressive victory to her record on Sunday at Oaklawn Park.
Bouncing back from a good third place finish in the Listed Purple Martin Stakes behind Munnings’ Kimari last out, Edgeway went off as the 4/5 favorite in the six furlong race. The filly raced near the back of the leading pack a few lengths off the leader a few paths wide, having clear running room the whole way around the track.
She didn’t take much time to challenge for the lead, running four wide around the far turn to draw even with the leaders. Edgeway took a clear lead with a furlong and a half to run and kept the field at bay from there to win by 1 1/2 lengths for her second career win in three starts.
Trained by John Sadler for Hronis Racing, Edgeway was a $275,000 OBS April purchase last year at two. One of seven stakes horses for Competitive Edge, Edgeway was bred by Pope McLean, Valerie Blethen and David Blethen and is the fourth foal for Listed winner Magical Solution.
Magical Solution is a half-sister to Grade I winner The Lumber Guy and Listed winner Bold Deed and from the family of Grade II winner Break Even.
One of the leading sires of his generation, Competitive Edge is the sire of 43 winners, including four stakes winners.
