Speak In Colours Becomes The Latest Stakes Winner By Excelebration

Excelebration Colt Rallies To Gain Third Stakes Success

The Joseph O’Brien-trained Speak In Colours (4c Excelebration - Maglietta Fina,by Verglas) gained the third black-type success of his career when taking Saturday’s Listed Dash Stakes at the Curragh.

A fine fourth in the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes last time out, he finished second in the Group 2 Greenlands Stakes on his first start of the season in May. He was sent off favourite despite carrying top weight and chased the leaders for much of the six furlong sprint, improving to lead a furlong and a half out. Pushed out by Donnacha O’Brien, he held off Woody Creek (Zoffany) by a head on the line.

Joseph O’Brien said after the race, “Speak In Colours came back off a career best at Ascot and it was a quick turnaround but I'm delighted that he won and he'll probably get a little bit of a break now. He should be a good colt for the rest of the season.”

Speak In Colours was purchased privately by Mrs CC Regalado-Gonzalez after landing his first Stakes success at the end of his two-year-old career. Bred and previously raced by Scuderia Archi Romani, he is out of the five-time winner Maglietta Fina, herself a half-sister to multiple Stakes winner Tullius.
